The Texas Hill Country, much like Texas itself, is pretty massive. So, I guess that's my disclaimer - this post is by no means a complete guide to the region. However, if you happen to be looking to stay in the Blanco area, I can't recommend Onion Creek Kitchens at Juniper Hills Farm enough. In fact, you really don't even have to leave their beautiful property. We utilized the property for a bachelorette trip, which was great, but this quaint boutique hotel is also very well suited for a romantic getaway.

Our first night we rented a party bus to drive us the 45 minutes to Austin for dinner at Benji's Cantina and then to the W Hotel for drinks. For safety reasons - there are a lot of deer - I highly recommend renting transportation. The next day we spent the afternoon relaxing (recovering...) by the infinity edge pool, drinking champagne and eating macaroons. That evening we took a cooking class at the kitchen on the property. The bride chose Italian, and there wasn't one thing on the menu that wasn't excellent. Not to mention the kitchen is top of the line, the instruction is extremely helpful without being overbearing, and the view from the dinner table overlooks the countryside (there's even a cute little fox who comes to visit). The next morning on our way out of town we stopped for brunch in Dripping Springs at Rolling in Thyme and Dough, where sadly we switched from mimosas to coffee, before once again entering the real world.

Sad the trip is over, but happy to have the memories.
