Powder Bath Before and After

Quick before and after today! I don’t show this room often on my Instagram since it doesn’t get great lighting. However, our decorator had professional pictures taken of the space recently, so we finally got some good light. Yay!

Pretty straightforward in here. To save money, we kept the same vanity and just painted it and added new gold hardware. The sconces and mirror are also new + I convinced my husband we needed to add grasscloth wallpaper in here to amp up the volume a bit. It really was pretty boring with just paint on the walls. After the wallpaper was installed, he agreed it was worth the price. 💁🏻

Before.

Before.

Unfortunately I don’t have a shot from the same angle for the before and after photos above, but that’s because the only thing structural we did in here was relocate the entry door (which means it’s impossible for me to show the same angle).

Before the renovation, guests entered the powder bath straight from the formal living which we thought was super awkward (hello! everyone would know exactly when you entered and exited the restroom NO THANK YOU!). So… we decided to remove a closet in the hallway leading to our master bedroom, which left us room to add an entry door into the bath off of that hallway vs. the living room. Much more private. Much less awkward. And fortunately we didn’t sacrifice closet space because we were able to add another closet in our entryway during the process. A win win.

After.

After.

The countertops are a remnant piece (to save money) of carrara marble.

You can’t see the flooring here, but it’s the same wood flooring we have running throughout all the main living spaces in our house (which you can see here). We also replaced the toilet to a more modern looking one that’s more water efficient and prettier. Unfortunately, you also can’t see the artwork we have hanging in here. It’s a watercolor print of the Luxembourg Garden in Paris (which is me and David’s favorite park in the city). It makes me so happy every time I look at it!
