A Girl's Trip to Savannah
About a month ago, my cousins, aunt, sister-in-law and I went on a girls trip to Savannah, Georgia. It was SO beautiful, the food was incredible, and we had such a great time.
Before too much time passes (sorry… I’m SO guilty of saying on InstaStories that I’m going to share something on the blog but then I never do! 😬 I commit to being a better blogger in 2020!) , I wanted to share with y’all a link to our super cute Airbnb + mention where we ate and share our itinerary.
And y’all I can’t take any credit for our awesome itinerary as my cousin Abby did all the research and planning. 👩🏻💻 She did a great job!
Ok so here is where we stayed (pictured above and below). It was VERY cute and exceptionally clean. It’s a Stayloom property, if you’re familiar with that Airbnb brand.
I do have to mention that we had some check-in problems. Long story short… the top floor of the home is a separate unit which is also for rent and somehow the girls who reserved it ended up inside our downstairs unit instead. By the time we arrived and everyone figured out the mix up, they had already decorated for a bachelorette party + used the beds and some of the towels. Obviously that was a bit of a mess, but luckily they were very nice and we (eventually) got it sorted out.
Also, the heater wasn’t working properly. As soon as we alerted the property manager, they sent someone out to fix it. But we did freeze the first night there. 🥶 To be fair, we think it was the first time this year they had to run the unit, but nonetheless it was a definite inconvenience.
I can’t imagine either of those things will happen again though, so I would still recommend it. And as you can tell from the pictures, it was super charming and definitely had that Savannah aesthetic.
I’d heard great things about Savannah, but I didn’t want to inflate my expectations (and be disappointed) so I basically went in blind. I shouldn’t have worried about that though because the city was incredible!
It’s the perfect spot for a low key girl’s trip (Instagram-worthy scenery, good shopping, great bars) or a weekend getaway with your significant other (romantic bed and breakfasts, lots of history, incredible food).
During our first day we had brunch (restaurants are listed at the bottom of the post), hit up a hop on/hop off trolley tour, and then walked around town.

I highly recommend starting your trip with a trolley tour. The city itself is quite small and the historic section is even smaller, so it’s super walkable and easy to get around. But a trolley tour will help you get your bearings + point out the highlights of the city (Forest Gump scenes, famous haunted mansions, historic sites, etc.). We had a couple different drivers and they were both great! Very entertaining.

After the tour we walked around and hit up some shops. Definitely check out The Paris Market on Broughton Street (the main shopping district). It was so cute!
We couldn’t have had better weather during our trip, and honestly I could have wandered around the historic district for hours looking at all the gorgeous homes. 😍

Fun fact: you can walk around the historic district with open containers of alcohol.
One of the highlights of the trip for me was the ghost tour. There are several around town, and we did Blue Orb Tours which I would definitely recommend. And for all you scaredy cats, I promise it really wasn’t that spooky! It was more historical than anything.

We also stumbled upon this gorgeous church above while we were walking around. We agreed it’s definitely the most beautiful church we’ve seen outside of Europe!
Most of the historic homes have placards near the front door indicating the year in which it was built. Our trolley tour guide also told us that in Savannah if you see a red front door, it means the mortgage has been paid off. I did some googling to confirm and it checks out.
My sister-in-law Daniella and I sipped on these bloody mary’s for a couple hours, haha!
Seriously so quaint and charming! I’ve never been to Charleston before, but for what it’s worth both of my cousins have and they said they enjoyed Savannah more!

And the food!!! 🤤 As beautiful as the city is, honestly the food was the highlight for me. It was the best food experience I’ve had in the U.S. (the California wine country food scene comes close). Every restaurant we tried was great!
There were SO many restaurants on our list that we didn’t get to try, but I’ll go ahead and list everything we considered at the bottom of the post so you can do your own research.
It was so nice catching up with my family and escaping mom life for a few days in Savannah (thanks Mom for watching Kate!).
We had the best time. I’ll definitely come back with my husband one day! Side note: I will mention that if you add Savannah to your list, then I’d visit in the fall or spring as I’ve heard it’s quite hot in the summer. 🥵
