Happy Friday, everyone!

It’s been a super busy week around here. Yesterday I had a photoshoot at the house with my photographer Shelly, so the bulk of my week was spent preparing for that. It takes a lot of time to get the house cleaned and tidied, plan outfits, and think through all the shots we want to get so that the day goes as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Of course, my back chose this week to “go out” so my mobility has been very limited. Fortunately David was home to help me out, and we got plenty of help with Kate from grandmas! I made it happen thanks to my awesome support system which I’m VERY blessed to have.

Tomorrow we’re headed out of town for Baby Kate’s first road trip. We’re making her first trip an easy one… just 3 hours up the road to Dallas. We’ll be introducing Kate to my husband’s side of the family on Saturday. On Sunday, my girlfriend Terah and her husband are hosting us + our best friend Emily and her beau at their home for a pool party. I am very excited to get some bestie time! Plus they’ll be meeting Kate for the first time and I get to meet Terah’s new son, Max. Yay for babies!

One other exciting thing that happened this week is we received Kate’s passport in the mail. We did the expedited option and it took less than 2 weeks to get it! Much quicker than I expected. So, of course (💁🏻), we just booked ourselves a trip to Mexico! We’re both super excited for a vacation to unwind a bit. And yes, we are taking Kate with us! My husband is a little apprehensive about taking her because he really wants to be able to relax, but I talked him into bringing her along. It’s not that I’m nervous leaving her at home or that I feel guilty or anything like that. I just really feel passionate about acclimating her to travel as soon as possible. Let’s get this baby on a plane! Plus I also want to start making fun family memories (even though she won’t remember yet!) right away. Next week I’ll spend some time researching all the best advice for travelling internationally with a baby.

That’s what I’ve been up to this week, and here’s what I’ve been reading:

  • ENNEAGRAM: If you’re a big Instagram user, you’ve probably seen various influencers talking about the Enneagram. It’s gotten very popular as of late. If you’ve been curious about it, here’s an article on Every Girl that sums it up. I LOVE the enneagram and credit it with a lot of positive changes I’ve made in my life over the last year or so. We even have all our potential hires take the test as part of our company’s hiring process. It’s just that good, y’all. I highly encourage everyone to take the test and begin your journey of self-discovery and improvement!

  • CELEBRITY: Jay-Z officially became hip hop’s first billionaire according to Forbes. Interestingly, he beat out Dr. Dre for the top spot. Speaking of Jay-Z, I enjoyed listening to this “rant” by financial guru Dave Ramsey about why no one should care how much money Jay-Z spends on a wine bill (even though as Jay said, that bill was actually Jaun’s bill). Preach, Dave! It’s worth listening to this rant if you’ve got 10 minutes to spare this weekend.

  • HOME TOUR: Enjoyed touring CW Star Jensen Ackles’ home in Austin. That entryway! The screen in porch! The fireplace! The backyard! Love it.

  • TRAVEL: Have y’all seen the various proposals making their way around the internet about how to renovate the Notre Dame Cathedral after the fire? Some approaches are traditionalist in that they want to rebuild the structure exactly how it appeared before burning down. But some take a different approach and advocate for modernizing the building a bit and adding some fresh new architectural features. There are some VERY wild proposals out there. This article via Architectural Digest runs through some of the most outlandish proposals (like putting a swimming pool on top!). Don’t @ me, but I actually think modernizing the roof in some way would be cool if executed properly!

Hope you have a great weekend!
