Falling for Plaid

Plaid is trending this fall season #fashion 1. Mackage coat // 2. Goodnight Macaroon sweater // 3. J. Crew flats, I also like these in plaid // 4. Rag & Bone skinny jeans // 5. Zara scarf // 6. H&M scarf // 7. Equipment tee // 8. Manolo Blahnik pumps // 9. Madewell top // 10. Rag & Bone pencil skirt // 11. Rails top // 12. Kate Spade purse (can't find a good link but it's out there)

Since I can't quite yet wear some of these fabulous fall trends I'm seeing everywhere (you know, given the fact that we're still experiencing 90+ degree temperatures here in Austin), I really enjoy doing these weekly roundups of my favorite trendy pieces for y'all. After all, just because we can't wear them yet doesn't mean we can't start buying!

I've already shared my favorite floral finds and some sparkly embellished pieces that are great for fall, and today we're falling for plaid. There are so many timeless plaid patterns out there - like the Burberry check or Scottish black watch tartan - that I have always loved to incorporate into my cold weather style. If you've never worn this pattern before, have no fear as it's pretty easy to style. Whether your look is more classic or you like things a bit more edgy, plaid can work for you.

A plaid top like the Rails button up (number 11) can be worn in a classic way with some high-waisted bootcut jeans, a nice leather belt, and pumps. Or you could front-tuck it into a pair of distressed jeans and throw on a pair of chucks and a moto jacket for a look that's edgy yet chic. And don't be afraid to mix patterns! I just ordered those J. Crew flats (number 3), and I can't wait to pair them with a striped shirt under a puffy vest or an anorak jacket. One more piece of advice - don't wait too long to purchase your plaid scarf of choice (like number 5 or 6) this fall! Last year Zara had one that I wanted so badly, but it sold out before I could snag it. Regrets.

As you can see, the possibilities really are endless when it comes to plaid. Mix a little of this lovely pattern into your wardrobe this fall season.

Enjoy!
